Lucien Laubier, nowadays a professor in the Universiy of Mediiterranee and manager of the Paris Oceanographic Institute ( An Albert Ier, Prince of Monaco foundation) started its oceanographic carreer as an assistant to the laboraratory of Marine biology of Banyuls-sur-Mer, University of Paris.

That’s here he got the opportunity to explorer the catalian coast up until 300 meter deep aboard of the diving saucer Denise. He was the very first biologist keep insitu the big white coral bushes. Entered in CNEXO in1969, he created a search team about the ocean deeps (in between 1000 and 4600 Meters deep) and worked in Atlantique in Norway sea and in Mediterranee.
His mililitary duty abord the bathyscaphe Archimede gave him the facility to get involved to reccord dives inside the deep of Kouriles-Kamtchatka. Then his works on Hydroyhermal druve himself diving with Cyana and Nautie. After the discovery by the researchers of his group about this new domain that won to describe the pompei worm, the only pluricellular organism able to sustain during sligly over 100C° under a pressure of 250 atmosphères.
